TAC while not a person is a very loyal alumnus
The story of TAC :
In 1955, leaders of the Tolland County Farm Bureau, which then sponsored the Tolland County Extension Service, realized 4-H’s need for more usable space in order to provide greater services to the people of Tolland County. The Tolland County Agricultural Center (TAC) was incorporated in 1956 by the county leaders in 4-H, Homemaking and Agricultural programs. At the time 6,000 people were served in these programs. In addition, other public groups could use the facilities. TAC was established as a non-profit, self supporting entity. The price for part ownership is said to have started at $25. Through the generosity of the Town of Vernon, a portion of the former Town Farm property was available for purchase for $10,000. At that time no funds were available. Five individuals with a vision for 4-H, Extension and the greater community, put up the money to purchase the property.
